Wind tunnel tests on December 5-9, 2022 and January 10-13, 2023.

Wind tunnel tests were conducted at JAXA/ISAS on December 5-9, 2022 and January 10-13, 2023.

In the December test, we applied a glass coating to the surface of a model of the suborbital spaceplane FuJin, which is expected to reduce drag, and evaluated how the drag coefficient changed compared to before the coating. An additional test, the oil flow method, was used to visualize the flow conditions.

In the January test, the glass coating was removed from the model and the wind tunnel test was conducted again to evaluate how the drag coefficient changes.

As a result of the test, the aerodynamic coefficient could be measured, and the flow was well observed.

We would like to utilize the results in the development of FuJin.
